David Murrell
EVP, Chief Banking Officer
David has been with MainStreet Bank since 2008, where he has built a distinguished career and advanced steadily to his current role as Executive Vice President and Chief Banking Officer. He brings to this leadership role the same processes, work ethic, focus, and determination that have defined his career — now channeled toward leading and elevating the entire business banking team. David is deeply passionate about contributing to others’ growth and success, and that commitment remains at the heart of everything he does.
In his role as Business Banker, David strategically partnered with businesses and individuals who had complex and unique banking needs, providing access to creative, convenient, and cost-effective solutions tailored to each client. He makes invaluable connections with his centers of influence, clients, and prospects, and his infectiously positive attitude makes it easy to understand why so many customers refer David to others.
While David has excelled at a Top 5 U.S. bank, he finds that MainStreet Bank’s community banking model gives him and his team the flexibility and institutional support to help shape the offerings available to customers. His areas of expertise include deposits, credit, cash management, treasury, and merchant solutions. Earlier in his tenure, he helped establish and manage the bank’s merchant services department — an initiative he led for several years. David is also well-versed in government contract lending, medical practice lending, acquisition capital, and commercial real estate lending.
David holds a degree from the University of Maryland with a double major in finance and marketing. After graduating, he continued his studies in accounting, a foundation that sharpened his ability to advance clients’ overall financial success.
David believes strongly that community involvement and financial literacy for both adults and youth are imperative. He has been committed to initiatives such as Teach Children to Save, the Money Smart program, and financial counseling efforts in the community. David is a board member for local nonprofit Equity Now and has been an active member of the Terrapin Club. David has also remained consistent in coaching various youth sports teams throughout his career.
