Making a difference for foster youth
Marc and Barbie present their donation to Loudoun County
Two MainStreet Bank employees teamed up to make a significant impact on the lives of young adults transitioning out of foster care in Loudoun County through the bank’s Making Change program.
Marc Batchelor and Barbie Porte combined their individual allocations to donate a total of $2,000 to the Foster My Future program through the Loudoun County Department of Family Services.
“Imagine facing adulthood without the support system many of us rely on,” Marc said. “These young people deserve a helping hand, and we’re proud that MainStreet Bank empowers its team members to contribute through Making Change.”
The Foster My Future Program provides crucial assistance to young adults, 18 to 21, who have aged out of the foster care system. Participation is voluntary, and the program currently serves eight individuals with essential needs such as housing, transportation, academic support, and life skills development. Donations are used to help with needs such as buying furniture and household items and providing transportation assistance.
Barbie added, “It’s incredibly rewarding to know that our contribution will directly support these young people as they strive for independence.”
